science post

Hello earthlings! This is Dylyn reporting for the CSA contest and I’m in outer space! Pretty cool right, but there’s a lot of empty space out here too, (Duh! that why they call it space) there’s some stars in the distance and It looks like some planets enough about what I see time to get to Mars! It’s also really cool because I passed the Moon. Since there’s a lot of stars and planets out here I’ll start by talking about them.

So onwards with the report! Stars are created by the joining and collapsing of giant balls of gas. Helium and Hydrogen are formed and compressed by gravity, causing nuclear fission, which causes the star to burn. And a planet is created by centrifugal force pulling rocks and other things to orbit around the newly created star (the star gets so big that it has gravitational pull ) and the heavier things drifted closer to the star and the lighter things like gas were farther away from the star and as everything spins different things collided and stuck together till they formed a core (heavier stuff like iron ) and the lighter things got caught in the now developing gravity and form the outer layers (like rocks and hydrogen and carbon)and that goes for rock planets and gas.
Since I’ve finished talking about how planets are made we need to know what the difference between a star a planet and a satellite!

  •
A star produces its own heat and light. Also a star is always made up of helium and nitrogen even though some planets are made up of gas not all of them are.
  • A planet is made up of rock or mineral elements but the ones farther from the sun in our solar system are made up of gases.A planet relies on light and heat produced by other objects.
  • A satellite is made up of rock mostly and only orbits around planets and usually are remnants of old planets that were sucked in by gravitational pull of the planet like a planet satellites don't produce there own light they just reflect it.

Hey you know how I said I passed the moon well I’m, going to talk a little about that giant grey mass. You may think its useless but the moon is really important especially to Earth Because the Moon is the one that creates ocean Tides and how that works is since the moon is really close, the moons weak little gravitational pull has a tiny bit of effect on Earth so the moons gravity pulls the water from the Earths surface and since the Earth is spinning the moons pull has to let go so it creates a big surge of water on Earth. Also another amazing thing the moon does is eclipses (*angel chorus in the background*) lunar and solar. A lunar eclipse is when a moon is directly behind a planet so its overshadowed but that moon still gets a little light, the reason why the moon turns red is because the little light that moon does get its very weak and the weakest colour of light in a spectrum is red. Solar eclipses are not that different from lunar ones, instead a moon is in front of a lager body say a planet and creates a shadow on the larger body behind that moon and that moon has to be at a close rate to have that happen also its shadow doesn’t cover the whole thing just a small portion. One more thing about the moon is its phases it takes around 29 days for the moon to complete its full cycle around the earth with 9 phases but only four are actually important and they are FULL MOON:0 days, QUARTER MOON: seven days FULL MOON: fourteen days QUARTER MOON AGAIN: twenty-one days. The phases of the Moon depend on its position in relation to the Sun and Earth. As the Moon makes its way around the Earth, we see the bright parts of the Moon's surface at different angles.

Well I’m almost there I can actually see Mars in the distance but this is the fun part of this report FEATURES AND FUN FACTS J yay! Some features of the solar system are well all of the planets are geological features of the solar system but there’s also the asteroid belt it’s a long string of asteroids that look like a dividing line for the rock planets and the gas planets but there’s also the Oort cloud and an Oort cloud is basically a field of ice covered asteroids but mostly chunks of ice. I have a really awesome fact scientists think they have found a new planet called Tyche in the Oort cloud and it supposedly is bigger than Jupiter which is really cool! Did you know that if the earth wasn’t on a tilt we wouldn’t have seasons, and the moon was created by another planet that was way smaller that earth called Thea got pulled into Earth’s gravitational pull and crashed into Earth and sort of got stuck orbiting Earth.

So I’m now on Mars and its cool but I wish I had a camera with me ‘cause its so awesome but Its freezing like you would think it would be burning hot because its red but its so cold here but I’ve seen so many amazing things on my journey and this is such a once in a life time experience and I’ve past the moon seen stars up close and seen Mars (oh ya that’s so common to see ) and I’ve talked about so many things. I am so going to win CSA’s contest but it’s time for me to go home they probably miss me (its been like 3 months (ya that’s how long it takes)) so see you back on earth peace out!
